Carlo Bollino – a former Albania correspondent for the Italian news agency ANSA, served since the early 90’ as director and administrator of the Tirana daily newspaper Gazeta Shqiptare and later of the TV station News 24 and portal Balkanweb.com. After the Italian company Edisud LLC sold its media holdings in Albania in 2011, Carlo Bollino and his wife Alba Malltezi went on to found the daily newspaper Shqiptarja.com, together with a number of journalists they had worked with before. Later, Malltezi’s company Media Content bought a 34 per cent stake in a television station, Balkan TV, owned by media mogul and former MP Koco Kokedhima. The TV station was rebranded under the name A1 Report TV.
The joint venture between the two businessmen started in the end of 2013 and ended in September 2015; however, problems between the two parties had already been registered earlier. After Kokedhima and Bollino fell off, the later relaunched the TV station under the brand Report TV. Although the TV station was headed by Bollino and was publicly associated with Kokedhima, the two businessmen do not appear in the registrar records of A1 Report and Report TV. The shares and administration of the company was in the name of people related to the two entrepreneurs.
In June 2015, Lindita Dode registered a company called Multiscreen, which in July of the same year received a license from AMA to transmit in the frequencies of the closed TV station ALSAT. In October 2015 the company changed its name into Multiscreen; Report TV. Although it was publicly known that the TV station was founded and ran by Bollino, he officially bought the shares from Doda in April 2017 for 3.5 million Lek.
Bollino has been often accused of as being close to the ruling Socialist Party of current Prime Minister Edi Rama, allegations that he has repeatedly rejected. Such accusations were made against Bollino by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who claims that the government financed Bunkart, a cultural project with the involvement of Bollino.
