Owners Database
Media ownership in Albania is a family affair and the market is heavily concentrated in the hands of a few powerful families. In the television market the two biggest owners - the Hoxha and Frangaj families - control more than two thirds of the market with the 71.7% of the market share. The four biggest owners in the free-to-air commercial market are: Hoxha Family with Top Media, Frangaj Family with Klan Media, Dulaku Family with Media Vizion and the businessman Irfan Hysenbelliu with News 24 TV. Hysenbelliu is also the biggest player in print media with his Panorama Group, which published Albania’s biggest daily newspaper by readership and revenues, the daily newspapers Panorama, Panorama Sport and Gazeta Shqiptare. Family ownership is present also in the Yldon Media Group, which owns Ora News TV, Channel One and Radio Ora News, which are owned by the Ndroqi family. The Leka Brothers own the economic weekly Monitor, while husband and wife, Carlo Bollino and Alba Malltezi control the daily newspaper Shqiptarja.com and the 24 hour news television station Report TV.
