Alba Malltezi

Alba Malltezi is the owner of the daily newspaper Shqiptarja.com and the wife of a journalist and media owner, Carlo Bollino. Malltezi controls 74.6% of Free and Fair Media (FFM) Group, which owns 80% of the newspaper Shqiptarja.com. FFM Group is a sole owner of Media Content which still has 35% of shares of A1 TV, now closed. The capital of this company is 350 million Lek (USD 3.3 Mio.). She has been a journalist in the print media for more than a decade. Malltezi writes a column for Shqiptarja.com. Other shareholders of Free and Fair Media Group are Eva Doci with 20% of shares and the Italian company Superba LLC with 5.04% of shares.
Both, Malltezi and Bollino, are perceived as being backers of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Albanian former right-wing Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the opposition Democratic Party have accused Carlo Bollino and his wife of being politically close to Prime Minister Edi Rama. Malltezi and her husband have vehemently rejected the charges as politically motivated, citing their critical stances when Berisha was in power as president and prime minister.
